Product Description

This is an early, hand cut copper sheet dance mask with a cloth-lined interior, a chin rest, relief decoration, and perforated eyes, nostrils and mouth. The pattern is a male face decorated with a frog.

Few of these copper masks remain, dating back to a style of Pre-Columbian times that comes from the Guerrero Sierra. This specimen exhibits age and use, with minor paint loss and imperfections.
