How long can the jellyfish survive in the tank? Are they difficult to maintain?

Jellyfish in these specialized aquariums actually live longer than in the wild and will typically live an average of 1-2 years. Many of our customers have even kept them a little longer. Once they have completed their life cycle you can simply purchase replacement jellyfish from Jellyfish Art.

The Moon Jellyfish are a marine species and are not particularly difficult to maintain. They will, however, require proper cycling and some simple basic maintenance.

Can the jellyfish and my fish be in the same tank?

The jellyfish should be kept only with their own kind. This tank is specifically designed to keep only Moon Jellyfish.

What is the cost of replacement jellyfish?

The cost of replacement jellyfish if you need more in the future is fairly inexpensive. They start at $22 each and may be purchased from the vendor's website directly. Since they are a state certified aquaculture facility all of their jellyfish are bred and raised by them and are available year around.

Can you provide detailed maintenance required and how often are you supposed to feed the jellyfish?

Aquarium walls can be wiped clean using the included cleaning sponge and any debris can be removed using the included pipette. Small water changes once per week is basically the main maintenance duty. As the tank matures this can be extended to 2-3 times a month. Feeding should be once a day, a day or two may be skipped per week with no issues.

How noisy is the tank?

The Jellycylinder Nano is run by an air pump and is very quiet.

How big are the jellyfish?

With this kit, you will receive 3 live sustainably captive-bred moon Jellyfish that are approximately 1” in diameter. We say approximately because many times if available we will ship them a little bigger! The jellies will also grow with their nutritious diet of our dry JellyFood included with your kit. When you purchase the kit we ship the aquarium and accessories, then you will receive a unique code via email for the Jellyfish. This code can be redeemed at your convenience once your aquarium is running and ready to redeem the live Jellyfish portion of your kit (overnight shipping for the animals is included!). The code never expires so keep in mind that if you intend to give this item as a gift there are no perishables in the initial shipment of the aquarium and accessories!

How long does the food supply last?

The easy to use dry 30ml bag of nutritious JellyFood included with your kit should last about one year. Additional bags of food can be purchased for $15 when needed.
