Dorit Schwartz Sculptor
AGT 1007
Product Description
Since a very early age, artist and sculptor Dorit Schwartz has been intrigued by the diversity of nature. Her creative process represents her deep appreciation for the natural world, with expressive forms that explore sensuality through organic shapes and textures. The finished works inspire the observer to journey from element to element, eventually taking in the entire piece as a whole—interpreting and discovering in them personal meaning as their reactions and feelings combine with the art. Her one-of-a-kind sculptures can be found on permanent display in various private collections around the world, with prominent pieces in London, Zurich, Paris, Los Angeles, and New York.
First found on the banks of the Achetes River in Sicily, Agate is a translucent quartz variety known for the unique patterns of alternating layers of elements, colors, and shapes. Agate has an ancient history, with some agate sculptures originating from over three millennia ago. Agate has been used for artistic, decorative, and healing purposes. It was originally formed in the cavities of volcanic and metamorphic rocks by collected silica and chalcedony. Given the singular nature of its sources, Agate comes in many distinctive varieties that are mostly dictated by the geographical composition of the ground surrounding the fissures where they have formed.
