Being offered today is a rare 1934 “A” series $5 Dollar Silver Certificate STAR Note. This “STAR Note” that has been graded in PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ. The STAR signifies a “replacement note”. The STAR Notes are far more valuable than a regular printed note. The serial number on this note is *09008675A. The note has a low serial number. This note carries an additional grading of Gem Uncirculated and EPQ. The Gem New designation shows that the note looks like it was just printed. The EPQ stands for Exceptional Paper Quality. This grading is the highest you can get under the PMG guidelines for a 65 grade.

It is extremely rare to find a STAR note in this high PMG 65 Grade.

The color just pops off the note. The margins are centered very well, and the ink just pops off the note. The colors are bright and bold. The vibrant colors and well-preserved paper add to its visual eye appeal.
The note has fantastic eye appeal. The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the note are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears.

The note will be encased in a long-term preservation holder, ensuring its protection, and providing a clear view of both sides. The intricate details of the design, including the finely engraved vignettes and intricate patterns, remain crisp and sharp. The Silver Certificate is designated by the Blue Seal on the right center of the note. It also has “Silver Certificate” on the top center of the note. PMG is one of the top grading services in the business. PMG stands for Paper Money Guaranty.

When The Bureau of Engraving and Printing or BEP prints a sheet of notes and they are damaged in any way, the notes must be destroyed. By law, they need to print notes bearing the damaged serial numbers. When they print the new notes, they must bear a STAR in front of the serial number. This designates the note as a “replacement note”.
