Changeover Pairs are an interesting phenomenon that occurred during the early years of printing small currency. Changeover pairs are consecutive notes that transition to a different series. In this case the notes are 1934 A to 1934. If the changeover occurs from a later series to an earlier series, such as these notes, then it is called a reverse changeover pair.

This process occurred because the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) workers kept using old plates due to high engraving costs. Some signatures were already engraved into the plates even long after a signer had left their office, or the plates would be used until they were worn out or were retired.

They would group together various front and back plates on the same press. After the first and second printing (where the differences of series would occur) the sheets would be cut and compiled into one stack. All that was left was the third printing which contained the serial numbers. The stack of partially completed notes would be numbered in sequence creating the changeover pair.

The color just pops off the notes. The margins are centered very well, and the ink is well embossed. The colors are bright and bold. The well-preserved paper adds to its visual eye appeal.

These notes are encased and sealed by PMG. Every PMG certified note is backed by the industry leading PMG guarantee, which provides greater protection for both BUYERS AND SELLERS.
