Moldavite is a forest green, olive green, or blue greenish vitreous silica projectile rock formed by a meteorite impact in the Czech Republic. Moldavite is a type of tektite. It was introduced to the public in 1786. It Is believed that Moldavite was formed 14.7 million years ago during an impact of a giant meteorite in present-day Nordlinger Ries.
