Ancient Greece. Histiaea, Euboea, c. 3rd-2nd centuries BC. A lively little silver tetrobol. The front depicts the head of a Nymph facing right wearing vine-leaf crown, earring and necklace / The back depicts the Nymph Histiaea seated facing right on a winged galley stern, stylis (mast with cross-piece) in left hand. Greek inscription IΣTIAI-EΩN. Coin measures 15mm diameter; archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. Coin reference: HGC 4, 1525; SNG Copenhagen 517 for type. From the Ancient Art in Miniature Collection; Ex Heritage, Texas.Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
